| Spread
over 1850 sq km, the Namdapha National Park
is situated in the state of Arunachal Pradesh.
Also a Tiger reserve, this National Park has
topography with altitudes ranging from plains
to 4500 meters. The diverse vegetation of
the Park provides a natural habitat to a diverse
range of birds and animals. The National Park
maintains its virginal, unexploited beauty
due to inaccessibility to the greater part
of the park.

| Animals in Namdhapa National Park: |
The Namdhapha National Park is unique for being a
home to four feline creatures – the Leopard,
the Clouded Leopard, the Snow Leopard and the Tiger.
Some of the other animals found here include the elephant,
the gaur, the Himalayan black bear, the endangered
musk deer, slow loris and the red panda.
The family of Primates is represented by the different
species of Macaque - assamese macaque, pigtailed
macaque, stump tailed macaque and the hoolock gibbon.
The capped langur joins them in this natural habitat.
The Namdapha National Park is home to a large
variety of spiders and butterflies also.

The forest cover of the National Park provides
a home to a range of rare endangered birds. The
White winged Wood Ducks, the great Indian Hornbills,
Jungle Fowls and Pheasants and more can be sighted
in this forest.

The Namdapha National Park is a combination of various
species of trees and shrubs. The park is covered with
wet tropical rain forest, which has thick lush green
undergrowth. With more than 150 species of timber
it is a botanist’s dream destination. Rare and
endangered orchids, and famous medicinal herbs grow
in the park. |

- The best time to visit the Namdapha National Park
is from October to March.
- The Park is ideal for trekking and hiking.
- The headquarters of the National Park is at Miao.
- Miao can be accessed from Tinusukia or Dibugarh
by road and is 150 km away.
- A 28 km forest road gives access to the protected
area up to Deban.
- Beyond Deban, the mode of travel is by foot.
